Mornington Secondary College is a school of approximately 900 students situated approximately 70km south east of Melbourne which comprises of 100 teachers and 30 non-teaching school support staff. The College offers an extensive curriculum base to enable students to follow and achieve in a variety of pathways supported by whole school Pathways programs.

The College has outstanding facilities which include a heated indoor 25m swimming pool, performing arts theatre, a three court indoor basketball stadium, a large oval and athletics precinct, and a year 12 centre.

The College provides a breadth of educational and vocational opportunities in the senior school. Hands on Learning and Headstart are also offered to students across year levels.

The College actively supports student participation in inter-school sports and leadership programs. Sporting teams, in particular, contribute to both team and individual levels of excellence at local, zone, district and state levels.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. Demonstrated ability to work with a range of people and collaboratively in a team situation.

2. Demonstrated working knowledge of running a canteen or cafe and appropriate accreditation in line with Safe Food Handling

3. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and problem solve to deliver high quality service to our students and staff.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills, Word, Online ordering system, Excel.

**Role**:
The Canteen Person is responsible for assisting in the canteen to ensure that it is run efficiently and profitably, under the guidance of the Business Manager, using established routines, methods, and procedures.

The Canteen Person must ensure that safe and appropriate practices are followed in relation to hygiene, health laws and regulations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure safe food practices are adhered to at all times. Ensure safe food practices are adhered to at all times.
- Assist with preparation of the day¿s menu
- Assist with food service at recess and lunch times
- Ensure that all daily monitoring and records are maintained (as per Food Safety Guidelines) for inspection purposes.
- Work towards the ongoing improvement of service, facilities and Safe Food Handling.
- Facilitate a happy, supportive and productive canteen environment, where canteen staff and or volunteers feel valued and welcome.
- Report any maintenance issues on issue tracker in a timely manner
- Provide the College with any catering needs for meetings and professional development days
- Attend regular meetings with the Business manager to ensure ongoing reporting on the canteen procedures
- Maintain canteen security including:

- Ensure cash is kept in the safe and keys are kept secure
- Follow DET guidelines for handling cash and using the EFTPOS machine
- Locking up at the end of the working day and switching off appropriate appliances
- Ensuring that only authorised people enter the canteen.

**Risk and Occupational Health and Safety**
- comply with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participate in consultative processes.
- observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training and instructions.
- identify, report and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring (Risks arising in the workplace may be financial, site, task or person specific or related to safety.)
- promote and implement occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within the College.
