Position Summary

The Communications & Engagement Unit promotes the Institute and its work through the media,

stakeholder engagement and internal communications activities; takes a leading role in helping AIHW

staff to produce interesting and informative work and provides leadership in the communication area.

The Unit is comprised of 5 teams - Media, Parliamentary, Strategic Communications, Corporate

Reporting and Authoring Support.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to provide administrative support to the

Institute’s Communications &Engagement Unit. You will be passionate about people and developing

strong relationships and have the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Under general direction you will:

- Assist in developing effective relationships with authoring units regarding the promotion and

release of their reports at conferences and events.
- Contribute as a member of a team to projects and/or activities as required.
- Provide administrative support to a busy, fast paced and dynamic team.

Selection Criteria

Important

1. Strong interpersonal skills, sound verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work

successfully as a member of a small team.

2. Good research and analytical skills and an ability to work under pressure, prioritise and multitask

in a busy environment with many last-minute changes.

3. Be a self-starter and motivated learner

Highly desirable

1. Experience writing and editing and drafting correspondence.

2. Familiarity with or ability to gain knowledge of stakeholder engagement, events and strategic

communications.
