- Job Description

**The Role**:
The Construction Manager is responsible for the establishment, management and deployment of both internal work-force and contractors for the execution of Project works. The role will implement and deliver overall construction objectives in planning, leading and managing assigned construction activities forming part of project delivery. The key purpose of the role is to support Project Managers to deliver project outcomes for the client.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

- Oversee and establish construction resource to support projects involving underground powerlines.
- Manage the process of establishing all required plant & equipment to ensure programmed works can be executed efficiently and effectively.
- Track and manage off-hiring both internal and external plant and equipment
- Develop and manage the training / instruction specifically required by the project.
- In consultation with the Project manager, program the forward schedule of works for construction resources to ensure workforce utilisation is maximised.
- Provide advice/notice to Project Managers on issues, risks, latent conditions and/or variations associated with programmed works.
- Ensure that project milestone dates and overall scheduled completion dates are met.
- Manage the internal and external (Contractors) workforce in conjunction with the PM’s to achieve budget outcomes.
- Manage and coordinate stores and stock processes required for delivery of the programmed field activities.
- Enforce good construction standards and quality across assigned projects.
- Maintain and monitor construction progress and reporting this to the Project Manager.
- Complete field inspections, all site inductions and tool-box meetings.
- Manage the project close-out process including as built documentation.
- Identify project scope changes and prepare job change notices and variations for submittal to clients
- Be accountable to the Project Manager for the delivery standards, construction time lines, quality, safety and cost in relation to projects.
- Regularly conduct and review risk assessments.
- Monitor contractor performance and maintain a key relationship with our high performing contractors understand their business drivers.
- Desired Skills and Experience

**You**:

- Proven working experience in construction management of underground powerlines.
- Experience working with external stakeholders and managing competing expectations.
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
