About the Portfolio

RMIT’s Research and Innovation Portfolio supports researchers to help shape the world. The portfolio has an engaged, energetic, talented and collaborative team focused on enabling excellent research and innovation outcomes.

The Research & Innovation Capability (R&IC) function builds strategic capability and capacity to drive research excellence and create impact from research.

The function is responsible for:
- Development and deployment of interdisciplinary research and innovation capability through RMIT’s eight Enabling Impact Platforms (EIPs), with an emphasis on deploying strategic capability for impact- Designing, developing and delivering enterprise-wide programs that foster engagement and build researcher capability, with an increasing focus on growing impact literacy; and- Strategic talent development and retention via coordination of RMIT’s Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellowship Scheme and other enterprise researcher support programs.

The Enabling Impact Platforms (EIPs) were established to bring together whole-of-university capability, collaborating with industry, government and community to pursue impact-focused research and solve complex local, national and global challenges with innovative multi-disciplinary solutions. The EIPs aim to ensure RMIT’s research creates value and benefit for our research partners and in doing so creates impact for the economy, environment and society.

About the Role

The Operations Officer, Enabling Impact Platforms (EIP) role is critical to the successful operations of the Urban Futures EIP and the EIP Program more generally. You will provide high-level administrative support to the EIP Director and will work collaboratively with other members of the R&IC team to support EIP activities. These activities may include developing and maintaining business processes, assisting in drafting professional communications, planning events and conferences, minute-taking, diary-management and working closely with staff across the Research & Innovation Capability team and portfolio.

You will regularly draw on your initiative and discretion to adapt to changing priorities and take ownership and accountability of your tasks.

About You

You will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised team-player, with strong attention to detail and excellent stakeholder management skills. Your talent for building trust and anticipating the needs of senior stakeholders, confidently identifying creative solutions, and executing tasks to a high standard will set you up for success in this role.

You’ll also have as a minimum:
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of a range of high-level administrative upport in both office and committee environments.- Experience in public outreach, organising events and functions, communication strategies and promotional activities.- Flexibility, enthusiasm and a high level of self-motivation and initiative, when working both independently and as a member of a team.- Highly developed communication skills - both written and verbal, with proven ability to prepare advanced documents, reports, newsletters, briefs and other professional written communications.- Excellent organisational skills including task prioritisation and demonstrated ability to work flexibly across a range of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
