- About the Role- The Principal Compliance - Portfolio and Exploration will lead Compliance-related (predominantly anti-corruption and trade sanctions) advice, oversight and support as well as performing risk assessment and due diligence principally across BHP’s Portfolio, Strategy and Development and Exploration functions in relation to a portfolio of acquisitions & divestments, venture investments, exploration, new country entry and minority and non-operated interests.- Your Responsibilities.- Proactively engage with stakeholders to identify at risk scenarios and provide oversight and advice on preventing and mitigating these risks
- Perform due diligence for acquisitions & divestments, venture investments, exploration and new high risk country entry
- Engage with and influence partner organisations for the purposes of maintaining adequate Compliance programs
- Develop and present instructor led and online training and communications content tailored to at risk scenarios
- Proactively identify emerging Compliance-related risk scenarios based on external developments and business activities including routinely monitoring geopolitical issues for countries and opportunities
- Risk identification, assessment, prevention and mitigation of Compliance-related risks
- Develop, embed and execute Compliance frameworks and improvements within stakeholder’s processes
- Endorse and approve Compliance transactions including giving anything of value, third parties, donations and sponsorships
- Support external engagement initiatives aimed at reducing risk
- About You- Degree in Commerce, Law, or a related discipline
- Knowledge of Australian, UK and US anti-corruption and trade sanctions laws, regulator guidance and enforcement actions
- Capability to engage effectively with all levels of seniority internally within the organisation and externally with partners
- Curiosity, attention to detail and strong organisation skills in order to maximise value from due diligence
- Experience designing and implementing Compliance programs especially anti-corruption and trade sanctions
- Senior experience in global corporations, professional services firms and/or law firms
- Appropriate professional accreditation/qualification
- Experience working in or in relation to high corruption risk countries will be an advantage but not essential
