**The Role**
The APS 5 Contracting Financial Support Officer within Army UAS Project Office (AUASPO) will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex contracting work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
The APS 5 Contracting Financial Support Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice relating to the budget, costs and financial analysis of projects based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and investigations and perform administrative support work to achieve results.
The APS 5 Contracting Financial Support Officer will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).
**About our Team**
The Cargo Helicopter and Uncrewed Surveillance Program Office (CHUSPO) delivers through-life support for the CH-47F Chinook and Army Aviation System Branch supported fleet of Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The Program Office is made up of the Cargo Helicopter Management Unit (CHMU), the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Management Unit (UASMU), the Engineering Management Unit (EMU), the Army Uncrewed Aerial Systems Program Office (AUASPO) and the Business Management Unit (BMU).
They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
They will have highly developed communication skills, excellent attention to detail and have the ability to collaborate across Government and industry to achieve high quality outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following attributes and skills to the role:
- An understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, procedures and compliance obligations
- Prior experience in delivering budget support, including coordination of budget preparation, financial performance monitoring and reporting
- Prior experience in the preparation of appropriate contracting schedules applicable to contracting activities
- Ability to provide advice on complex budgeting to stakeholders in Defence
- Ability to evaluate and interrogate financial data to ensure accuracy of financial information in reports and systems
- Strong problem-solving and issues resolution skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
