As a Data Engineering Manager, you will get to implement your technical ability and leadership skills as this role is 50% people management, looking after a team of data and DevOps engineers, and 50% hands-on, using skills such as Python and SQL in our data platforms.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you will be responsible for managing a team of contingent workers and permanent staff members, undertaking the performance management process and subsequent administration, while providing both technical mentorship as well as business context guidance. The role will also retain a hands-on element where you will be expected to utilise technical skills as part of delivery on project work.
From a technical perspective, you will design, build and manage data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata and workload management. You will define and drive optimisation for existing ELT/ETL processes, data integration and data preparation flows, helping to move them in production.

**About you**
As an experienced data professional, you will be a collaborative people and outcome focused individual who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment. With a willingness and commitment to learn and adapt, collaboration and partnership come naturally to you, where you participate in and promote cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through knowledge sharing and partnership. Previous experience in a leadership or management position to some capacity is preferable.
Having extensive experience in data engineering, such as maintaining and scaling cloud data platforms, you will have deep expertise in Azure Cloud and Databricks. You will further have a deep understanding of DevOps principles and a sound working knowledge of existing, new and emerging data trends.
