**About the role**

Mater Mothers’ Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Registered or Clinical Midwife to join the leadership team to lead the Midwifery Group Practice service in the **permanent full-time position** of Midwifery Unit Manager.

Mater’s MGP Program enables women to be cared for and supported by a group of known midwives throughout their pregnancy, during birth and in the early weeks at home with a new baby. This model recognises the benefits of continuity of care and enables midwives to work flexibly and to their full scope of practice. Midwifery Group Practice at Mater is made up of 10 teams of midwives, providing care in outreach clinics, birthing in the community, refugee, young women's and high risk obstetric models.

**Salary**:NUM Level 1 (or commensurate with experience)

**What you’ll be doing**

Other duties and responsibilities include:

- Leading and growing a high performing team of professionals in a dynamic, exciting and collaborative environment
- Promoting and supporting a culture of woman and family cantered care
- Engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that services are efficient and patient safety is optimized
- Team management, including performance management and compliance with Human Resources processes
- Delivery of targets against relevant timeframes

**About you**

Suitable applicants for this role will be a Registered or Clinical Midwife with:

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- Current advanced clinical knowledge and experience in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
- Well developed interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
- Proven high level competence in leading and managing clinical teams
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a clinical cost centre
- Previous experience working in a Midwifery Group Practice
- Tertiary qualification in Midwifery, health administration or management, clinical leadership, budget management and finance (or working towards)
- Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
