Your Opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Business Development Officer in our Business Development Team on a permanent full-time basis, located at our Ipswich campus.
As a Business Development Officer, you will initiate and implement business strategies to enhance business performance and growth and to increase the Region's market share and revenue in key markets.
This position reports to the Business Development Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Showing Initiative, Working Together, Safety First, Focusing on our Customers and Taking Responsibility.
- Actively research, using various strategies including face to face appointments, to identify client needs and industry trends and develop and implement strategies, to actively pursue new commercial opportunities, within local, regional and national markets.
- Create strategic alliances and partnerships to optimise the ability of the organisation to meet training needs of the market.
- Maintain links with clients to keep abreast of requirements and needs in the training market by utilising networks with TAFE personnel, public and private sector and professional organisations.
- Research education and training trends, monitor competitors' products, services, price and promotional techniques and actively pursue commercial revenue generation for the region by implementing effective client management systems, and conduct ongoing product/pricing analysis to sustain a competitive edge within the market place.
- Support the development of client solutions by working with the relevant staff to formulate proposals, tenders, project management plans and quotations, that incorporate commercial activity costing requirements, ensure compliance with relevant legislative and government policy requirements and meet client needs.
- Presentation of proposals, tenders, project management plans and quotations to commercial clients, in collaboration with educational teams, to present persuasive arguments in order to promote products as required.
- Actively source information to inform the educational and business planning processes of the region through provision of information and data on local trends and issues to enable reporting against determined key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure and support the achievement of targets.
- Support stakeholders through the provision of linkages to business, community and industry organisations to ensure the achievement of revenue and community satisfaction benchmarks.
- Contribute to the achievement of continuous improvement by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and is supported by the development and adherence to quality systems.

- Demonstrate ability in sales and key account management, as evidenced by a record of achievement in meeting or exceeding sales targets, and in dealing with business, industry, government representatives and students.
- Demonstrate ability to identify, plan, develop and promote profitable business opportunities in the education and training sector and realise optimum commercial returns.
- Demonstrate ability in research, development and presentation of proposals, tenders and financial quotations in an educational environment, recognising the positive benefits that can be gained from diversity with commercial clients using a persuasive manner.
