**Consultant Paediatrician

- Work day must be a Wednesday due to room allocation and meetings

**The Department**:
The Department of Adolescent Medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital is a speciality department within the Division of Medicine comprising of Paediatricians, Psychiatrists, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Social Workers and Psychologists working together to provide inpatient and outpatient care to adolescents aged between 12 - 18 years. The Department is comprised of sub-speciality teams including the Eating Disorders Service, Gender Service, Young People’s Health Service, Chronic Illness Peer Support (ChIPS) Service and Transition Support Services

**The role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Paediatrician to join the Department of Adolescent Medicine to provide high quality, evidence based medical care for young people and their families in outpatient and inpatient settings. The Consultant Paediatrician will run regular outpatient clinics, be allocated to the eating disorder assessment clinic roster and be included on the on-call roster for Adolescent Medicine (both 1st on-call and 2nd on-call support for the Fellows). The Consultant Paediatrician is expected to contribute to the multidisciplinary team meetings, quality assurance and research activities of the Department of Adolescent Medicine.
- Ability to engage young people and their families in processes that promote positive health outcomes
- Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Fellowship qualifications with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
- Medicare provider number eligible for patient billing
- ABN number for patient billing

**Previous experience working with adolescents with**:

- restrictive eating disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- somatic symptom disorders
- gender dysphoria
- patient who may engage in high risk behaviours
