About Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre


Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre (MCSC) is a state wide NATA accredited paediatric sleep service and unique in providing all types of sleep studies for all age groups of children across Victoria.

It is located in a custom built paediatric sleep centre based at Monash Children's Hospital (MCH).

The unit is staffed by 3 consultants, a full time paediatric sleep advanced trainee, 18 sleep scientists, 6 nurses and 3 administration staff.

MCSC performs 30 inpatient sleep studies per week along with a home oximetry service which performs 30-40 tests per week.

A portable sleep unit is available for inpatient sleep studies in NICU and PICU.

An extensive non-invasive ventilation service is managed by the 3 consultants and staffed by a dedicated clinical nurse educator and 2 sleep scientists.

The consultants provide both outpatient and inpatient consultative services for paediatric sleep.

MCSC has a strong research program which in conjunction with Monash University is recognized as the most productive research group in paediatric sleep medicine in Australasia and is ranked second internationally (Scopus).

Multiple NHMRC grants along with other funding sources have allowed the development of multiple research projects which each year lead to publications and presentations.


About the Role

What you need:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a specialist in Sleep Medicine (Paediatric)
  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
  • Fellowship of the RACS or equivalent
  • Working with Children's Certificate
