The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) is an independent statutory authority which regulates Victoria's gambling industry. The organisation licenses, informs and educates, monitors and enforces the gambling industry through a risk-based approach to regulation. Underpinned by its values of “work together, act with integrity, respect others, make it happen, and act with courage and confidence” the VGCCC plays an important role in ensuring the integrity, safety and fairness of the gambling industry so that it delivers sustainable benefits to Victoria.
The opportunity
Reporting to Manager, Data, Monitoring and Assurance, the primary responsibility of this role is to assist the Manager in performing the Risk Advisory component of the team remit, being to primarily drive the assessment of gambling risks and controls, to determine appropriate regulatory processes.
Who we are looking for
**To be considered for this role, you will have**:
- Relevant qualification and demonstrated experience working in accounting and auditing area
- Full membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or the Institute of Public Accountants
- Extensive knowledge of the gambling industry, in particular an ability to identify risks, developments and issues that need to be managed by the regulator
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in audit processes and procedures
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and manage the conduct of comprehensive risk assessments of various operational aspects of the gambling industry to ensure the suitability of the regulatory approach to mitigate the detected risks.
- Provide detailed recommendations in relation to improvements to existing internal controls, or the implementation of new internal controls or monitoring/assurance processes
- Assess industry and legislative change
- Manage consultation processes with other operational divisions to understand as-is process and propose improvements on an ongoing basis. Manage cross-divisional implementation of proposed process and/or methodology determined as a result of the risk assessment.
