We are looking for a** Manager, Events & Stakeholder Engagement, **to lead a small nationally focused team responsible for delivering key stakeholder events ranging from support for Group Executives to VIP site visits, financial calendar activity, media programs, employee town halls and industry-focused forums. The role will work to ensure these events are caried out to a consistent standard of excellence as part of the function’s charter to help build Rio Tinto’s reputation in Australia.

The objective of the role is to provide leadership, strategy and structure to the Rio Tinto events program, delivering high quality outcomes while ensuring team workload is sustainable.

Reporting to the **General Manager, Communications**, you will be responsible for;
- Establishing Rio Tinto’s Australian events and stakeholder engagement practice by forming a truly nationally focused team capable of delivering events to a consistent standard of excellence around the country.
- Serving as the Rio Tinto expert on event management, delivering high quality outcomes while ensuring team workload is sustainable.
- Developing program of stakeholder boardroom lunches for Chief Executive and Chief Executive Australia when in Melbourne.
- Overseeing management of Rio Tinto’s corporate memberships
- Overseeing Rio Tinto alumni program including calendar of stakeholder events.
- Delivering an effective events program in Australia, aligned to both country and Product Group strategic objectives and Group themes.
- Providing event management guidance to relevant Product Group and functional teams based in Australia.
- Working with General Manager, Communications - Australia to identify event management opportunities, spot issues and drive success.

**About you**

**To succeed in this role, you will have**:

- At least 10 years’ experience in managing, high-quality stakeholder engagement events for large companies, agencies, or government departments.
- A demonstrated collegiate approach and proven track record of excellent teamwork with company leader and senior peers.
- Proven capability to lead high performing teams.
- Excellent strategic capability and a proven ability to deliver results in a complex environment.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholder groups
- A high level of diplomacy and the ability to manage conflict and gain consensus.
- Ability to remain calm and considered under pressure.
- Demonstrated highly collaborative behaviour and ability to derive value from the broader organisation through sharing knowledge, experience, and skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A structured and organised thinker who is comfortable working at pace.
