Project Officer Disaster Waste

We are currently sourcing an Project Officer to work within a state government agency for short-term contract assisting the Disaster Waste team. This role is an immediate start and will be part of the team that is coordinating the clean-up/response efforts for the River Murray Flood event.
This is an entry level Assistant role where we are looking for a combination of clerical/administrative/records keeping skills.
The role of the SA Government Agency is to:
- Keep South Australia at the forefront of green innovation in waste management, resource recovery and the circular economy
- Increase economic growth for South Australia by reducing waste and pollution, improving business practices and efficiencies and building South Australia's competitive edge and resilience
- Build the State's capability and resilience in the area of disaster waste management
**About the Role**
The Project Officer, Disaster Waste is responsible for assisting with projects under the State's Disaster Waste Management Capability Plan for disaster waste preparedness and clean-up. Reporting to the Program Director, Disaster Waste, the role provides assistance with the coordination of Ministerial and Board correspondence, the coordination and tracking of project tasks and budget monitoring, and other administrative tasks as required.
The role will develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with internal staff and liaise with officers from across state government agencies, and organisations and contractors external to government.

- Occasional out of hours work may be required.
- Intrastate and interstate travel, including overnight absences may be required.
- A current National Police Certificate is essential as this is a Position of Trust.

**Technical, Professional/Knowledge and Experience (including qualifications)**
**Essential**
- Experience in undertaking and delivering minor projects, including identifying and scheduling project activities, undertaking research, collating and synthesizing information, and preparing briefings and reports with recommendations.
- Experience in supporting or assisting with the project management of large and complex procurement projects.
- Ability to understand the emerging and changing needs of the Agency and assist to determine priorities and goals within the framework of the organisation's objectives.
- Well developed capability in communicating complex and/or sensitive information accurately whilst also being attentive to the political /social environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide advice and communicate effectively with management, staff at all levels and with a diverse group of individuals.
- Experience in a range of administration functions, including financial administration.
- Highly developed attention to detail and accuracy.
- Skills in time and workload management, including the ability to organise workflow, show flexibility and adapt to changing demands, priorities and deadlines.
- Proven ability to operate under broad direction and exercise initiative and judgement, make well informed and timely decisions and respond to changing demands and situations.
**Desirable**
- Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Science, Project Management, or related discipline.
- An understanding of the objectives and strategic direction of Green Industries SA.
