**The opportunity we have available**
We are seeking talented, professional and experienced fraud investigators to fill several fraud investigations roles in the Assurance, Governance, Integrity and Risk branch. The Assurance, Governance, Integrity and Risk Branch is responsible for audit, risk management, integrity services, governance, performance reporting, fraud and Comcover insurance. The Branch plays an important role in supporting our divisions to deliver departmental outcomes, build organisation capability and enhance risk culture.

The work in the fraud control team is fast-paced and requires balancing competing priorities, while being adaptable to support the overall team when priorities and individual workloads change. Investigators will have the opportunity to investigate a variety of allegations and be part of a small team that helps our department manage fraud and corruption.

**What will you do?**
In this role you will be required to:

- Assess fraud tip offs within legislative, policy and legal frameworks.
- Conduct fraud investigations.
- Identify vulnerabilities in the department’s fraud and corruption control risk assessments and recommend risk mitigations to address immediate or ongoing fraud risks.
- Use a range of internal and external resources, and techniques to gather information and/or evidence to support decisions and recommendations, including preparation of complex high quality written material on sensitive matters.
- Work closely with business areas on recommendations for improving and strengthening fraud controls.
- Contribute to updates to the department’s fraud and corruption control governance arrangements.

In particular, you will need the following skills and experience:

- Experience managing multiple matters simultaneously within sensitive and time-critical operational settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor language to different audiences and a high level of attention to detail.
- The ability to distil complex information and quickly identify critical issues to formulate appropriate advice and guidance and make informed decisions.
- Engaging effectively with stakeholders and colleagues and a demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders.
- Always acting with high levels of integrity and professionalism in accordance with APS values and ethical standards.

- **Citizenship**: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts applicants must be an Australian citizen.
