About the role
The Health Information Manager is required to support the Senior HIM, Coding and Analytics in the management and of Health Information and clinical classification data submissions and standards maintenance.
About you
- Proven ability to implement and maintain performance standards applicable to clinical classification.
- Undertakes self-auditing and knowledge sharing to enhance the quality of data being entered.
- Develops more effective and efficient work practices through self-auditing knowledge sharing and education of clinicians and staff on coding issues and requirements.
- Demonstrated problem solving and organisational skills, with an ability to consistently achieve deadlines, appropriately prioritise workload and work effectively as part of a team.
- Shares accountability with peers and management on the services provided and the advice and information given.
- Undertakes continuous education through reading, research, contact with clinicians, attending workshops and seminars.
- Refers more difficult or complex issues or queries to professional peers & seniors both internally and at other locations, or to coding committees or the National Centre for Classification in Health.
- Provides support to less experienced staff on coding issues.
- Consults and negotiates with clinicians and other staff in influencing how patient records are to be completed.
- Demonstrates high level of interpersonal, communication and organisational skills including the ability to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise, or to acquire the skills to utilise relevant software and electronic clinical information systems including HBCIS, 3M Codefinder, Cerner, Microsoft Outlook, eHRoL, word processing, spreadsheets and other relevant software as required.
- High level of knowledge health information management practices and relevant governing legislation
- Ability to develop reports and analyse coded data
- Knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, anti-discrimination, Queensland Health Code of Conduct and Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011.
