**THE OPPORTUNITY**

The Staff and Family Support Office is a small team that provides specialist support to ASIS officers and
their families in Australia and overseas. The Family Liaison Advisor is a vital role within the Staff and
Family Office that provides timely and expert advice on the conditions of service and avenues of support
and assistance available to staff. The Family Liaison Advisor works closely with an experienced Manager
of Family Liaison Office providing a customer-focused team whose key responsibilities serve to assist
staff and their families when an officer is posted overseas or undertakes other work-related travel.

As the Family Liaison Advisor, you will work in a fast-paced environment, display well-developed
communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to engage in a discreet manner, maintaining the
highest levels of confidentiality. You will be responsible for developing and implementing work
programs and policies on behalf of the Staff and Family Support Office. You will also have highly
- developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to build productive working relationships with internal and
external stakeholders, providing policy advice at all levels.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**

Provide briefings/debriefings and policy advice to officers and spouses undertaking and

returning from overseas postings;
Contribute to program development and implementation for the Family Liaison function

within the Staff and Family Support Office;
With limited supervision, develop and deliver appropriate training modules in support of

officers and spouses;
Manage and report on an internal personnel database;
Assist to develop and implement policies and initiatives to support officers and their families,

both in Australia and overseas, across a wide range of issues; and

Build and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external

stakeholders.

**EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**

The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Posting experience in the Australian Government either as an officer or a spouse, or

experience living and working overseas;
High level customer service skills and ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure;
Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire, Australian Government overseas conditions of

service; and

Experience in writing and implementing policy.
