Howden Australia has an immediate need for a results driven Sales Manager - Aftermarket Compression. This role reports to our Head of Aftermarket Sales and the focus is to develop and implement a business plan to maximise aftermarket opportunities and sales for the Howden installed base of compression equipment.

The Sales Manager AFM Compression will deliver a professional level of service to our customers, with significant focus on safety and quality. This role will support our customers to improve the uptime of their equipment.

The position will involve local and international travel to win business and to participate as a key team member in technical clarifications with clients, consultants and end users. Travel commitments are estimated at 30% of time.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Front-line customer interface responding to enquiries, communicating parts & services solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the lifecycle of their Howden products.
- Responsible for Annual sales budget at budgeted margins for compression aftermarket related spares, products and services
- Liaising with Parts & Service departments to develop holistic proposals for service, overhaul and retrofit opportunities.
- Monitoring and reporting on competitor activity, and provide advice on market prices.
- Developing, monitoring and reporting on resellers and agents for Howden compression products.
- Ensuring that quotation information is recorded accurately and thoroughly in CRM.
- Ensuring proposals are submitted by the agreed bid due date and submission of subsequent technical clarifications meets customer requirements.
- Submitting tenders and proposals in line with company approval procedures
- Maintaining proposal documentation in line with company procedures and policy to ensure compliance with QA standards.
- Ensuring Company policies, procedures and norms are followed for all proposals activities to ensure the highest level of quality.
- Leading handover meetings defining project to Parts and Service teams, and Design and Project Management where applicable.

What do you need to bring?

It is fundamental that you have experience in rotating machinery with aftermarket knowledge in one or more of the following product groups - reciprocating compressors; screw compressors; multi-stage centrifugal blowers; Turbo blowers; steam turbines.

A technical background in mechanical engineering is required with Degree level, or equivalent in Engineering experience. Understanding and interpreting parts drawings and machine assembly drawings is an essential skill.

You are an experienced Sales Manager with the ability to proactively and independently solve problems, think laterally and identify corrective actions. You will also have demonstrated ability to achieve annual sales budgets, have good negotiation skills and prior experience negotiating terms of substantial contracts.

You’re energetic and pro-active with a high degree of self-motivation and display a customer centric attitude and exceptional relationship building skills.

You are an excellent team player with the ability to work in a matrix environment with multiple customers with strong inter-personal skills coupled with the ability to communicate both written and verbally at all levels.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) is fundamental, as is a current drivers’ licence.

The following would also be highly regarded:

- Experience in a similar industry with exposure to Compression in the PCOG industry
- Previous experience with a multifaceted role with key interfaces with other engineering disciplines and how these link to the design and operation of compression systems, particularly: piping, control systems, safety, mechanical, electrical, commissioning and operations.
- Design experience gained with an Engineering Contracting Company in the field of Petrochemicals, Refining or Oil and Gas.
- Working knowledge of international standards such as ASME, ANSI, PED and API or similar.
