**About the role**

The policy officer is responsible for policy support, including managing requests from department and external stakeholders, coordinating and synthesising advice on complex policy issues, as well briefing support. This role also involves managing ad-hoc, time-limited projects for the Executive Director, and the provision of secretariat functions.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
