**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, the Regulatory Standards Officer plays an important role in, evaluating the effects of changes in legislation and results from internal and external reviews and assurance tasks. This supports the capability of EPA’s regulatory decision makers.

As part of your role, you'll be responsible for establishing and upholding regulatory standards that align with the EPA's strategic objectives. You will develop and maintain regulatory standards to support the interpretation, compliance, and enforcement of regulatory policy, all with the goal of protecting Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

**Duties**:
To be successful in this role you will be required to (not limited to):

- Working under the direction of the Manager, develop standards and guidance to enable internal and external regulatory decision makers to effectively operate within the environmental protection framework.
- Represent the EPA positively in engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders & enhance their understanding of the laws that safeguard our environment and human health against pollution and waste.
- Foster a positive and productive team culture by identifying and implementing strategies that enhance teamwork practices.
- Collaborate with other departments of the EPA to address their requirements and support their needs.

**Skills and experience**:
Here are the types of experience, qualifications, and qualities we are looking for:

- A relevant tertiary degree/ equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience in at least one key area and at least one support area (refer to the PD).
- Experience developing clear and concise guidance for an internal and external audience.
- Experience in a Government regulatory environment.
- Familiarity with Victoria's environmental regulatory framework (desirable).
- Having the skill to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, especially when conflicts arise, is crucial.
- Proven ability to work as an effective member, dedicated to achieving the organisation's priorities.
- Demonstrated capability in regulatory decision-making (desirable).
