**Join the team**
Reporting to the Head of Safety for Kmart and Target, you will lead a high performing state based team to support business operations implement the Group’s safety management system. You will be responsible for ensuring the business executes the safety strategy whilst supporting sites respond to risks, incidents, injuries and regulatory interaction.
**What you’ll be doing**
As a National Safety manager working for Kmart, you will:
- Demonstrate visible leadership and stakeholder engagement to ensure effective implementation of the safety management system and values.
- Support the Head of Safety develop an annual safety strategy based on risk and injury analytics that achieves continuous improvement and a safety-first culture.
- Provide consistent support for senior leaders across retail and support chain in the successful implementation of the safety management system.
- Effectively collaborate with the National Safety Systems & Training Manager to identify process, safety management system or training opportunities as raised by retail, supply chain and offices.
- Ensure a laser focus on critical risks and controls are achieved across the Group.
- Opportunities identified through internal and external audits are incorporated into business process and safety management system improvements. Also lead the Group’s self-insurance audit program and requirements.
- Lead a state-based safety team to support operational implementation of the safety management system and strategy leading to national consistency across Target and Kmart.
**To be successful in this role you’ll have**:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
- 10+ years leading a safety team or senior manager within a safety team.
- Previous experience within a fast paced environment and evolving risks.
- Comprehensive understanding and experience with safety and workers compensation legislation.
- Effective communicator who can build strong relationships.
- Proficient computer skills including previous experience with electronic incident management systems and safety plans.
- Previous audit experience including Regulator visits, internal and external safety audits and preferably self insurance audits.
