The Mental Health Clinician ensures optimal outcomes for consumers who are affected by a severe and enduring mental illness and their families/carers through the promotion of evidence-based, least restrictive practice, recovery-oriented and collaborative care, including the appropriate escalation of care. Key to this position is working collaboratively and utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.
As the successful incumbent, you will act as an advocate for the specific needs of all consumers and their carers including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups. This includes maintaining and promoting a professional standard evidenced by ethical practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations. You may also be required to provide support and clinical supervision/ preceptorship/ mentoring to all students and/or staff in accordance with relevant skills and experience.

**What you will bring to the role**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and including eligibility for membership of relevant professional body &/or full registration (if applicable) with AHPRA.
- Experience working in an Assertive Community Treatment Team and/or knowledge of the principles that guide service delivery within this model of practice.
- Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.
- Computer competence and literacy.
- Current NSW driver's licence and willingness to use for work purpose. This may include driving long distances across the Local Health District.
