Client Liaison Officer, Funds in Court, Supreme

Funds in Court (FIC) is a self-funded division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, managing funds paid into Court, primarily for people under a legal disability. All funds are held, invested and administered by the Associate Judge of the Court who is the Senior Master. FIC provides support and services for over 7,000 persons under ‘legal disability' (beneficiaries).
The Client Liaison Officer [CLO] is a member of Beneficiary Services and is responsible for providing high quality customer service and investigating matters relevant to persons with a disability. The CLO provides specialist advice and information on client needs, advocates for them and their carers and links beneficiaries to relevant services and agencies as appropriate.
The position reports to the Beneficiary Services Manager via the Team Leader - Client Liaison Services and is responsible for a portfolio of client files.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Visit clients of the Office and their carers, in their own homes throughout Australia, to effectively investigate matters concerning independent living skills, accommodation issues, emotional and physical wellbeing and support requirements.
- Provide authoritative reports with considered recommendations to assist with decision making in relation to the effective use of beneficiary funds to meet their ongoing needs; with specific focus on those beneficiaries who are victims of crime, to facilitate requests to access their funds in Court.
- Investigate and assist in the management of situations requiring crisis care and counselling and make recommendations regarding financial and policy implications where appropriate.
- Undertake research into the level, provision and access of relevant services provided to beneficiaries and their families by government, non-government, private service providers and community services. Identify new services available and their potential impact on the beneficiaries. Assist beneficiaries in accessing these services where required.
**About you**:
- Familiarity with the National Standards for Disability Services.
- Experience in the human services field including the provision of services to meet the needs of clients with ABI, mental health issues, substance abuse issues and survivors of trauma is highly desirable.
- Ability to have difficult conversations whilst being sensitive to client needs
- High level organisational skills - ability to prioritise work requirements.
- Well-developed attention to detail.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to support decision making and recommendations.
