The Role
The Inclusive Learning and Enrichment Teacher encourages the implementation of the School’s philosophy of
learning and teaching throughout the School.
The Inclusive Learning and Enrichment Teacher reports to the Head of Inclusive Learning and Enrichment and
assists with the implementation of the School’s programs for students with gifts and talents, students with
learning difficulties and disabilities, and students for whom English is an additional language/dialect.
Duties
- It is the nature of the work at Canberra Girls Grammar School that tasks and responsibilities are, in many _
- circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when the _
- occasion arises and undertake tasks that are not specifically covered in the position description.**1. Manage students within LS teacher’s caseload**:
- Devise, review and communicate Student Support Documents for identified students.- Provide guidance to teachers in the implementation of an appropriately differentiated curriculum,
- strategies for teaching and learning and the development of assessment tools.- Work collaboratively with other Inclusive Learning and Enrichment Faculty members to support
- students.- Act as first point of contact for parents of students identified on the LS teacher’s caseload including
regular/annual meetings with parents and/or student.
**2. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Faculty**
- Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of student support programs as a member
- of the Inclusive Learning and Enrichment Team.- Report student progress or concerns as necessary at Faculty meetings or directly to the HAE.
**3. Classroom teaching**:
- The Learning Support teacher will have a teaching load each year and will be a member of the
relevant faculty or faculties.
**4. Maintain Faculty records and relevant data about students**
- Maintain up to date documentation on students within the LS teacher’s caseload.
**5. Undertake such other duties as may be required by the Principal.
Essential Skills/ Experience
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work independently in the management of a caseload
- Ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with students, parents and colleagues
- Ability to work creatively and flexibly within a team environment to support a variety of students
- Knowledge of a variety of disabilities and the implications for student learning
- Understanding of learning styles and how teaching strategies interact with them
- Familiarity with strategies for engaging students and addressing their learning deficits

- Must hold, or have the ability to obtain, a current Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP)
