This position will be 48/52 for 12 hours per week and hours of work are mutually negotiable.

**_General Work Description_**

Food Technology Assistants work under routine direction of teaching staff, undertaking a variety of preparation and cleaning duties in the college kitchens.

**_ Features of the Work_**

Food Technology Assistants assist teaching staff with the preparation of class materials, tidy the kitchen following classes and generally attend to the hygienic management of the kitchens.

**Responsibilities**:
Staff are expected to develop, through work assignments, a knowledge and understanding of the operations, procedures and rules governing the work of the school.

An ability to work with students and teachers as part of a team is necessary.

Staff are able to perform individual tasks of work after limited training or experience.

Communication skills are required as the staff member is assisting in the delivery of educational programs and will at times work directly with students.

**_ Typical Duties_**

Assist in the preparation of student resources and equipment

Produce basic curriculum support resources

Assist students on an individual or group basis in the domestic arts classes

Assist with the communication between students and teachers

Observe students and draw them to the attention of the teacher where necessary

Participate in team meetings

Order food from relevant suppliers on a weekly basis, using food ordering system.
