**Carers ACT** is a leading not-for-profit organisation that provides support to unpaid family carers in the Capital region. Carers ACT have been supporting carers for over 25 years and have a dedicated team of professionals committed to improving the lives of carers in the community.

**The Opportunity**:
This is an opportunity to be part of the **executive leadership group** in an innovative forward thinking Canberra based NGO. You’ll work closely with an established leadership team and have responsibility over finance, IT and HR team and oversight of the 80 staff Carers ACT employ.

You’ll have the opportunity to further embed systems and whilst looking for efficiencies and streamlining process where required as Carers ACT goes through there next phase of growth. You’ll enjoy researching opportunities to increase the reach of the organisation, further diversify funding models and increasing the depth and breadth of the organisation.

You’ll enjoy working with a creative and innovative team, but you’ll most enjoy completing projects and seeing them being rolled out across the business.

**The Role**:
As the COO, you are responsible for the **operational and financial performance of Carers ACT** in line with the strategic direction of the business and supporting other managers to drive performance and productivity across the organisation and driving initiatives that increase revenue.

Your core responsibilities are focused on providing the **leadership, management and vision** necessary to ensure that Carers ACT has the proper operational controls, systems, procedures, and people in place to grow and to ensure operating efficiency to achieve business objectives while role modelling the leadership behaviours that create a high performing, engaged culture.
- Managing the finance team, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial audits.
- Manage the HR function overseeing recruitment, staff development, retention and maintaining satisfaction scores across the team above 75%. Currently at 81%, 5% points above the sector average.
- Be at the fore of technology roll out across the business, ensuring new technology is used optimally. Whilst being on the front foot with new and relevant technology in the sector.
- Drives and delivers initiatives across the business to optimise productivity and efficiencies and support sustainability and growth.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including government, community groups, and service providers.

**The Ideal Person**:
For this appointment we are seeking a p**roven leader from NFP/NGO** sector that brings commercial leadership and comparable functional experience gained in a similar environment. You will have a track record of running a high performing team, driving strategic initiatives, completing tasks and empowering staff to provide exceptional client focused care services.

Experience working collaboratively with Boards to set a clear strategy and business focus will also be highly regarded.
- Undergraduate and post graduate degrees (or extensive experience) in relevant field
- Excellence in organisational management with the ability to coach staff to manage and develop high-performance teams and develop and implement program strategies
- Relevant experience in organisational budgeting and fiscal management.
- Proven ability to lead organisational transformation projects and program development.
- Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
- Track record of effective project management and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and can work well as part of an executive team, with other staff, Board, carers and other stakeholders

**Salary / Rate**:

- 130k - 150k + Super
- Full PBI. Additional Leave
- Permanent Full Time Position. Hybrid Working Model
