**POSITION PURPOSE**

Ensure the efficient, effective and safe construction site operations for a commercial construction project (Newtown Town Hall Pride Centre), with operational responsibility for the supervision of contractors/sub-contractors engaged to undertake interior works. This position works under the general guidance of the Trades Operations Coordinator and the designated Project Manager.

Based on 38 hours per week with a start time of 7:00am Monday to Friday.

Full-Time Fixed-term - up to 6 months from 8 January 2024

This position will be required to work overtime on Saturday’s as directed and where possible advance notice will be given.

**Essential Criteria**

1. Relevant trades or construction qualifications plus recent experience in a similar role

2. Considerable proven experience in the supervision of construction works and staff

3. Current Driver’s license

4. Construction White Card

5. First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake relevant training

6. Negotiation, conflict resolution and well-developed interpersonal skills

7. Understanding of relevant requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and a commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment on sites under your control.

8. Proven ability to keep accurate records and to complete timesheets and daily, weekly and monthly reports

9. Experience using IT software including MS Office

**Desirable Criteria**

Accreditations in worksite Traffic Control and Workplace Safety

**KEY DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Develop, document, and implement a site safety and management plan, ensuring a safe environment for all.

2. Establish and maintain the site office and maintain documentation for record keeping purposes (site registers, induction records, site diaries etc).

3. Assist Trades Operations Coordinator and the designated Project Manager in the planning and staging of construction activities

4. Conduct site safety inspections and assess risks.

5. Conduct safety inductions, briefings and toolbox talks with all staff, sub/contractors, and visitors.

6. Supervise site security, including open/close procedures and access schedules.

7. Coordinate safe and timely access to site for staff, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers for optimal workflow and productivity.

8. Engage and communicate with stakeholders including Council officers, sub/contractors, utilities, external construction reps, etc.

9. Manage maintenance and housekeeping of site amenities, coordinating reporting and repairs as required.

10. Prepare accurate and concise reports as required.

11. Ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of the site on a daily basis.

12. Ensuring temporary fencing is secure and intact on a daily basis.

**KEY RELATIONSHIPS**:
**Internal**: Council officers including Trades staff, project manager/s, external contractors & sub-contractors

**External**:General Public and Community groups, suppliers

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $47.00 - $55.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Morning shift
- Overtime
