**About the role**
- UGLs Manufacturing & Maintenance business is currently seeking a Purchasing Officer to join the team at our Spotswood Locomotive maintenance facility in Victoria on a permanent full time basis.

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the role of Purchasing Officer is to take complete ownership of the procurement to support Spotswood Maintenance Centre, (SMC). This is to be done at the right price, right place, right quantity, and right quality at the right time to meet the business requirements.
- You will focus on;
- Purchasing in the most efficient way to ensure inventory levels are accurate to provide contracted service levels across multiple sites.
- Processing of quotes and purchase orders for offsite contractors.
- Updating SAP with accurate information including but not limited to ETA, pricing, lead time etc.
- Manage the on-boarding process for new vendors.
- Scheduling supply to lean principles ensuring optimum turn rate.

**About you**
- Previous experience in a purchasing role, ideally with in a heavy industry environment
- Tertiary qualification in procurement, supply chain, engineering or project management ideal but not essential
- Intermediate to advanced SAP operational experience or similar inventory and procurement system
- Experienced gained in the rail, automotive, defence, mining, avionics or any other safety critical environment. Rail preferred
