**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the RACS Physiotherapy team at the University of Canberra Hospital for a Physiotherapist with extensive experience in physiotherapy clinical practice in a rehabilitation setting and provision of clinical education and supervision to staff and students. This position has links with the broader physiotherapy leadership team across CHS, the clinical education unit at CHS and educational institutions.

The University of Canberra Hospital (UCH), Specialist Centre for Rehabilitation, Recovery and Research is located on the grounds of the University of Canberra. The hospital, the ACT’s first sub-acute rehabilitation hospital, is part of Canberra Health Services’ network of health facilities designed to meet the needs of our ageing and growing population.

The RACS Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology service is a dynamic team of physiotherapists, exercise physiologists and allied health assistants. We work to enhance function, activity, and independence for patients. We treat and manage clients requiring rehabilitation with a range of conditions, including neurological disorders, amputations, musculoskeletal injuries and the elderly. There are a wide variety of working environments across this service including the hospital setting, community health centres, patient’s homes and transitional therapy and rehabilitation units. Successful applicants will be required to work at any of these locations.

This position provides education and mentoring, facilitates knowledge translation and skill development and ensures the delivery of high-quality evidence-based physiotherapy within rehabilitation and aged care service delivery. The position also provides leadership for the delivery of clinical practice education for physiotherapy students within the team. The position supports team members in the delivery of high-quality student education, and also plays a significant role in the education of students.

The position also supports the supports the RACS physiotherapy and exercise physiology service manager in the supervision of team members, leadership for quality improvement and service development activities, and will be expected to contribute to, and support innovations and research activities within the department.

A merit list will be developed from this recruitment round and may be used to fill future permanent and temporary vacancies for a physiotherapy clinical educator within RACS over the next 12 months.

**DUTIES**:
Under limited direction of the RACS inpatient physiotherapy service manager, you will:

- Provide professional leadership in clinical education and support the supervision of staff and students, in consultation with the Physiotherapy Professional Lead, the Exercise Physiology Professional Lead, management and senior clinicians within the rehabilitation team.
- Provide leadership in the development and provision of clinical education which meets evidence based best practice standards across a range of health care settings.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of policy, guidelines, and procedures in consultation with senior clinicians and management within RACS physiotherapy and interprofessional services.
- Undertake, support, coordinate and deliver continuing professional development, both profession-specific and interprofessionally. This includes:

- Providing key support for teaching and training activities relating to physiotherapy and exercise physiology within and across designated program/s in consultation with relevant senior clinicians/lead professionals.
- Providing support for the teaching and training of generic educational programs that include or are specifically for Allied Health participants, in consultation with the Chief Allied Health Office, Clinical Education Unit, and the Staff Development Unit.
