The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including more than 4,000 administrative employees who support the sworn officers that provide a range of law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the socially, geographically and culturally diverse community of NSW.

**About the role**

Cyber Crime is an ever increasing and evolving global threat to policing, government organisations and our citizens. The digital enablement of modern policing through next generation policing systems, wearable devices such as body worn video, and modern digital concepts about officer and citizen interconnectedness greatly expands the digital threat surface into the front line of policing. The Cyber Security Command has the broad remit to establish and implement the Cyber Security plan for NSW Police. Based out of new premises, we are now seeking experienced individuals to join our rapidly growing team.

A new opportunity has now become available for a Cyber Security Operations Team Leader to be responsible for leading a team of analysts to respond to threats against NSWPF systems and data. This includes the development of both ‘blue team’ and ‘red team’ activities such as continuous monitoring and incident response, and penetration testing and compromise assessment services. The role will have 4 direct reports. This is a temporary, full-time position based at our modern office in Sydney Olympic Park.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- Strong experience in managing and leading a team during incident response and providing direction for the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of information.
- Work with stakeholders to contain, manage and remediate incidents while leading a team of threat response analysts coordinating tasks between multiple teams and resources.
- Technical skills to develop and test security controls and conduct training simulations to develop team capabilities.
- Technical skills for the ongoing development of the SIEM platform to ensure a high level of data quality, to assist in efficient and effective incident resolution activities.
- Experience with automation tools such as the development of security playbooks.
- Advanced skills in understanding intelligence sources and threat landscapes.
- Some experience in red team activities such as penetration testing and conducting compromise assessments in the enterprise environment.
- A curious mindset that enjoys a challenge.

**What we can offer you**

At NSWPF our people have access to a range of benefits that help balance life at work and at home. Some of the benefits available when you join the NSWPF include:

- competitive salary;
- flexible work options;
- opportunity to purchase leave;
- annual leave loading;
- corporate wellbeing programs including seminars and the Fitness Passport;
- free annual influenza vaccination;
- salary packaging options via superannuation contributions or a novated vehicle lease;
- 2 min walk to nearest train station and bus stop, restaurants, cafes and sporting venues.

**Target Question 1**:
Describe your response to a cyber security incident and the actions you took at each phase.

**Target Question 2**:
Describe a strategy you would use to build an internal purple team capability across a large enterprise environment with multiple technology teams.
