**About the role**

Join a dynamic Tourism Team as our business and event specialist. This role plays a strategic role in supporting the visitor economy though small business support and driving off season visitation though events. We are looking for a dynamic person with strong communication and negotiation skills. You must be organised with attention to detail. Stakeholder skills with a ‘pull your sleeves up and work it out’ attitude is critical in this role. You will also need to have a strong understanding of the visitor economy and the important role strategic events play for both vibrant local communities and our economy. Experience in events and running strategic funding programs would be beneficial.

This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm position working **35 hours** per week. Located at the Nowra Administration Building.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

**Duties**
Reporting directly to the Manager - Tourism, the focus of this position is to:

- To develop, implement, coordinate, and maintain a strategy to increase Economic Development outcomes in the Visitor Economy with a focus on events.
- Coordinate delivery of event permits on time and with a high level of customer service to all stakeholders.
- Attract events to the region to support Visitor Economy strategic outcomes, this includes coordination of the Event Support Program

**Skills & Experience**
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
- Degree in Tourism Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Quality experience in destination management with a demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in the tourism industry.
