**Why Your Role Matters**:
A Records Project Officer plays a key role within the Data Risk Management (DRM) project team in providing high level practical and efficient recordkeeping support and advice to the project team and key stakeholders.

The DRM (Data Risk Management) Project is addressing unnecessary, unmanaged and potentially insecure storage of personal information across the University.

The Records Project Officer will work as a member of the project team to conduct reviews of critical databases, providing reporting and analytical support, identifying records requiring remediation, assisting in delivering process re-design where required, building key internal relationships, and consulting on records management to identify and mitigate risks wherever necessary to reduce the operational risk improperly managed information poses to UNSW.

The role reports to the Manager, Records & Archives, supporting the Chief Data Insights Officer, and will have no direct reports.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and monitor the process for the identification and remediation of personal information held by the University in accordance with the requirements of the State Records Act 1998 (NSW), the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) (PPIPA), the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW) (HRIPA), and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).
- Work with the project team and database owners to implement changes to ensure compliance with the above legislation, including process redesign and the development of recordkeeping procedures and documentation where required.
- Provide reporting and analytical support to the project team and relevant stakeholders.
- Assess and manage project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
- Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.

**Who You Are**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) (PPIPA), the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW) (HRIPA), and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).”
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced and the ability to take initiative and work independently when required.
- Demonstrated experience in resolving recordkeeping issues through the delivery of analytical support, the proposal of solutions, and collaboration on process improvement to resolve them.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
