**Position Information**:
Northlakes High School is an inclusive, comprehensive government secondary school on the NSW Central Coast. The anticipated 2024 enrolment is 875. The school caters for the learning and wellbeing needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including low socio
- economic status. 19% of students identify from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island background and 6% identify as having a non-English speaking background. There will be ten classes in 2024 supporting students with a range of disabilities based within the Adaptive Learning Centre and Twinlakes Centre.

**Northlakes High School Dance Company**

Northlakes High School has an extensive Dance program, offering a range of ensembles and performance groups who perform publicly throughout the year. Each year, students have successfully auditioned and performed at regional and state events representing Northlakes High School with pride.

Northlakes High School has a specialist Dance program designed to focus on developing gifted and talented dance students within the performance arts. The practical based course is designed to challenge students across a variety of styles and performance arenas. Classes are taught in a fully equipped dance studio on the school grounds. The air-conditioned state of the art dance studio boasts a 7m x 9m sprung timber floor, full length mirrors across 2 sides of the studio and timber barres. The surround sound audio system operates through the latest technology and students have access to the mirrored change room that is inside the studio to store their dance uniforms.

Through active engagement in the Dance Company students will enhance their dance technique and performance skills, develop teamwork, leadership, problem solving and organisational skills, which can be transferred across a range of contexts.

**Selection Criteria**:
Approval and capacity to successfully teach Dance. Approval or willingness to successfully teach Visual Arts.

Ability to collaborate to develop, implement and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning programs, lessons and assessments that differentiate the curriculum and engage students to foster a culture of high expectations particularly in Stage 5 and Stage 6.

Demonstrated capacity for effective classroom management and student wellbeing practices that promote positive relationships with students and cater for a diverse range of learning abilities, including the cultural and educational needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Capacity to develop extracurricular programs and events that provide real-world experiences for students, both internal and external through engagement with community events with a commitment to improving students' educational outcomes.
