**Role Responsibilities**:

- Provide excellent customer service to external and internal stakeholders.
- Carry out statutory functions of an Environmental Health Officer, including inspections and compliance with relevant acts and regulations.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and investigate complaints related to food safety and public health.
- Contribute to the annual food sampling program and investigate infectious disease outbreaks.
- Respond to internal referrals, assessing health impacts and providing necessary support.
- Resolve health-related complaints and provide training to Student Environmental Health Officers.
- Conduct surveillance and sampling of public swimming pools, spas, and water courses.
- Conduct tobacco education and enforcement visits.
- Assist with the delivery of health education programs and information forums.
- Collaborate with relevant authorities and prepare reports on public health and environmental health matters.
- Participate in organizational projects and initiatives.
- Assist in implementing departmental business plans and service plans.
- Provide input into the development of strategic policies and programs.
- Participate in after-hours phone duties and respond to public health emergencies when required.
- Prepare legal briefs and attend legal proceedings as necessary.

**Role Requirements**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with computer packages used in Health Services, such as Pathway, Imps, Data works, and Streat Rader.
- Understanding of Council's Health Services roles, responsibilities, and programs.
- Willingness to participate in health promotion initiatives.
- Physical capability to perform required duties.
- Current driver's license.
- Previous 1 year experience as an Environmental Health Officer, preferably in a Local Government environment, is advantageous.
- Must hold a Degree in Bachelor of Health Science (Public and Environmental Health) or equivalent and be eligible for membership of Environmental Health Professionals Australia (EHPA)
