About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to support The Salvation Army Inner Gippsland Family Violence Integrated Mens Services. You will provide assistance to victim-survivors and perpetrators of Family Violence whilst holding men accountable for their use of violence and challenging their beliefs and attitudes.

The primary function is to provide a holistic service to inform intervention strategies that reduce risk and increase safety by improving overall functioning. This evidence-based specialist approach aims to provide direct support to men who use a holistic, practical and psychological approach, with comprehensive risk assessments to ensure safety.

Responsibilities Include
- Provide tailored interventions to ensure safety, relationship strengthening and reduction in the severity and frequency of violence
- Brief intervention, Case Management and Group work primary role functions as delegated according to service need by Team Leader - IMS
- Provide case management for clients to receive services in a timely manner
- Conducting Tier 1 responsibilities under the MARAM Framework
- Increase client’s motivation to provide strategies that work towards the goal of the cessation of violent and cohesive behaviour
- Case management plans are designed in collaboration with the client, depicting realistic and achievable goals
- Single/Short assessment skills are utilised to assess, work with and challenge the nuanced nature of a perpetrator’s behaviours and needs
- Interventions informed by victim survivors through collaboration with the Family Safety Contact Worker

This is a permanent full-time position, based in Leongatha, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.

What you will have
- Minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or related discipline or recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met
- Demonstrated experience working within Family Violence programs
- Demonstrated experience working with men using violence
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience working with a range of clients
- Someone who is committed to ending Family Violence
- Understanding of the complexities of working with Men who use violence
- Ability to analyse, undertake assessments and provide advice to other practitioners
- Employee Working with Children's Check
- Australian Drivers Licence
- National Police Record Check
