Why this role matters
The Salvation Army’s Integrated Men’s Services (IMS) operates across metro, regional and rural parts of Victoria. This portfolio supports both women and children who are victim survivors of family violence and men who want to stop their use of violence and abusive behaviours.
One of the programs delivered by the IMS is the Alexis - Family Violence Response Model (A-FVRM). This was developed in collaboration with Victoria Police and The Salvation Army, Family Violence Services. The A-FVRM aims to identify and respond to family violence incidences, providing a specialist response for repeat and high-risk cases identified by the Family Violence Investigation Unit (FVIU).
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to provide intensive, innovative and holistic short-term interventions to women and children, who have been victims survivors of Family Violence.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a Max-Term (until March 2025), full-time position based at Morwell Police Station, Victoria. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 6.
You will successfully- Ensure all clients who access the service are provided with non-judgmental, holistic support that demonstrates the mission and values of The Salvation Army.-
- Conduct intake and assessment, on-going risk assessments to inform and develop comprehensive support and safety plans.-
- Conduct outreach services to proactively and effectively engage with victim survivors of family violence.-
- Provide short term case coordination and case management.-
- Actively liaise with external services, refer as necessary and work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for clients..You will have- A Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent fields. Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Recommendation 209).-
- A current and valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check.-
- A current Victorian full Driver's Licence.-
- At least five years case management experience and skills. It is desired that the practitioner will have a minimum of two years family violence service experience.-
- An in depth understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, the drivers and causes of family violence and feminist, intersectionality and human rights frameworks pertaining to adults and children.-
- An in depth understanding of the developmental and therapeutic needs of children who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.-
- The skills required to engage and work with men who have perpetrated family violence.What we offer
