**About the **department**

The Physiotherapy Department is committed to promoting the highest levels of physiotherapy for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person centred evidence-based practice.

The Department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, across all Service areas. The department provides care across the continuum from the Emergency Department through bed based services and ongoing ambulatory care.

**About the role**

The Allied Health Interdisciplinary Practitioner (AHIP) will be recognised as a clinical leader by peers and colleagues and will motivate and inspire others. They are expected to lead and develop individuals and teams, and to have currency of professional knowledge, skills and external influences that support patient care at the highest clinical level. The AHIP will provide strong clinical leadership within allied health but is also seen as a key clinical leader across the organisation and specifically within the General Medical Unit. The AHIP provides patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team and is expected to take on a leadership role and tasks on behalf of the whole team to support the delivery of excellent patient care.

A regular day will see you:

- Providing an Allied Health interdisciplinary assessment of Genral Medical patients
- Making reccomendations for specific allied health referrals
- Making recommendations about the need for rehabilitation or GEM for patients
- Liaising with medical and nursing staff and families about the likely trajectory of recovery of patients
- Contributing to the quality, research and educational agenda in the AHIP area

**About you**

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

- Minimum of 7 years’ clinical experience in an acute hospital setting which should include exposure to General Medicine as a senior clinician.
- Familiarity with the issues relevant to the public health care system
- Registration with AHPRA if applicable
- Ability to identify opportunities for process re-design and to support/ coach staff in the implementation of re-design projects and activities
