**The Role**

A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced senior finance professional to join a highly motivated team and play a leading role in supporting the delivery of a strong transformational agenda.

As a key leader in the financial services team, your ability to work collaboratively and in close connection with your fellow Unit Managers to programme workflow and deliver a fully integrated financial solution will be essential. Key to this will be your ability to challenge the status quo and embed this into team culture through your influential leadership style.

With a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, you will bring innovation and creativity to how the financial services team delivers service and adds value across the organisation in supporting the delivery of Whittlesea 2040.

**About you**
To be successful in this role you will need:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards, Local Government Act, Local Government (Finance & Reporting) Regulations and Local Government (Planning & Reporting) Regulations essential
- Strong attention to detail and a good eye for ensuring quality and compliance in key financial deliverables
- Strong experience in the preparation of annual financial statements and management of year end reporting requirements (including management of the annual audit process)
- Strong experience in the preparation and review on monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all reconciliations are prepared, reviewed and endorsed in a timely manner
- Strong experience in facilitating the development of an environment of strong internal control, process, policy and procedure
- Experience providing high levels of customer service to internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong leadership and people management skills with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Highly effective time management and planning skills, plus the ability to prioritise and organise workloads in an environment of change and conflicting demands and the ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and negotiation skills.
