Our state government client is seeking two experienced Communications Manager(s) for a 3-month temporary casual contract in their Perth CBD office.

Start: ASAP

Rate: $65-75 per hour plus Super

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours) (part-time may be considered)

Duration: 3 months

Location: Perth CBD

Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements - casual loading included in rate)

**Position Title**
Communications Manager

**Key role of this position**
The Communications Manager develops, manages and coordinates communications and community engagement activities for projects in Perth’s southern suburbs. This role is responsible for leading a team, which includes contractors, and working with the broader communications team to meet communications and engagement objectives.

**Core duties and responsibilities**
- In consultation with the Strategic Communications Manager and coordination with the broader Communications team, manages all aspects of communications for the projects.
- Liaises with and provides strategic advice to project teams, including the Principal Project Directors, on key project issues and to stay abreast of project development to identify proactive opportunities, and acts accordingly.
- Leads and facilitates community engagement for the projects.
- Researches, develops and implements strategies to enhance the projects’ image in the community and among project stakeholders.
- Researches, develops and implements strategies to actively promote project works, including ensuring the understanding of the work being undertaken in the media and community.
- Coordinates the preparation and distribution of all publications and promotional material relating to the projects.
- Responds to project related inquiries, some of which may be outside of business hours, from community groups or members, ministerials and from news media; research issues and arranges appropriate responses.
- Supports the preparation of media materials in relation to the projects and provides advice to senior officers and / or Ministerial officers
- Supports the planning and organising of visits to the project site for Ministers and members of the community, including education groups.
- Develops and maintains a database of effective liaison and collaborative relationships with the community, government and industry groups, professional associations, education institutes, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Evaluates communications and engagement activities undertaken for the projects.

**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Core Competencies_
- Substantial knowledge of and experience in managing the planning and development of contemporary internal and external communications strategies and in delivering a range of communication programs and activities.
- Significant communication and engagement experience with expertise in delivering project engagement and communications activities for construction or infrastructure projects.
- Leadership and Management_
- Demonstrating ability to achieve organisational goals by leading others in meeting challenges.
- Communication and Interpersonal_
- Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationship internally and externally.
- Conceptual / Analytical / Problem Solving_
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical, research and problem solving skills.
- Organisation_
- Well developed planning and organisational skills, including the demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands to meet required deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
- Computer Literacy_
- Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Considerable understanding of the internet, multi-media tools and desktop publishing.
- Special Requirements_
- Satisfactory completion of required medical examinations to verify physical fitness to perform the duties of the position.
