A wonderful career opportunity for a highly skilled, motivated security professional to become a trusted advisor in cyber security functions to over 500 independent schools across NSW by joining the Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW) as the Cyber Security Consultant/Advisor in the Technology Portfolio.

You will be an exceptional communicator and team player, outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills with a high level of technical aptitude with the capacity to evolve with a rapidly emerging cyber security landscape. Given the independent nature of each school you will leverage scalable solutions, training and resourcing so as to assist schools in tightening their cyber security stance.

This position is part of a small, dedicated internal Technology team. The position will report to the Chief Information Officer.

**What qualifications will you need?**

Essential
- Relevant Tertiary and industry qualifications in Information Technology, data science or related discipline.
- Service oriented approach.
- Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
- Capacity to engage a wide audience including school boards members, Principals, business managers, teachers, admin and IT staff.
- Product agnostic approach.

Desired
- Experience at IT Director/IT Manager level in an Australian non-government school context
- Experience providing cyber security services to the education sector i.e: SOC.

**What will be your key responsibilities?**
- Advocate for the needs of the independent sector with relevant state, federal and other entities.
- Lead the sector’s cyber security capability by activating cyber security engagement in schools such as:

- facilitating professional learning opportunities such as online learning modules and events.
- developing a self-assessment tool for schools to assess their maturity and indicate next steps, leveraging existing frameworks.
- reporting the outcomes of activities.
- developing an online module for school Boards and leaders.
- respond to enquiries from independent school stakeholders (Principal/Business/IT Manager).
- For a limited number of schools, develop a focused AISNSW ICT Advisory Service for schools to gain independent advice about their cyber security risks and capability:

- lead an independent review of the school’s cyber security posture, risks, and capability.
- develop a prioritised set of strategic recommendations with an aim of to enhance the school’s future ICT Program.
- provide feedback on key priority areas as identified by the school.
- Establish a sector wide Cyber Security consultative group to progress initiatives relevant to independent schools such as leading the development of cyber security policies, templates and other resources for schools to modify and adopt.
- Review AISNSW’s own cyber security strategy and approach.
- Contribute to the internal AISNSW ICT Team including being an escalation point for internal ICT services including strategic projects and business as usual from time to time.

**Selection Criteria**
- A professional approach with a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
- A strong understanding of IT best practices within a school context.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Recent industry certifications in relevant products.

**What skills and attributes will you have?**
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively express complex technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- The ability to conduct an independent assessment of cyber-security services and processes, drawing upon your knowledge of industry best-practice and existing frameworks.
- The ability to negotiate with and assess cyber-security vendors and their services.
- Thorough documentation, governance, and reporting skills.
- Refined presentation and senior stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Collaborative planning and negotiation skills.
- An awareness of project management methodologies and associated skills.
- A desire to work for a not-for-profit education peak body and a working understanding of the Independent Education sector.
- Willingness to travel.
