**About the Role**
Cyber Security NSW is looking for an Operational Intelligence Cyber Security Analyst, to join our Intelligence and Response Team. The Intelligence and Response Team leads and coordinates intelligence and the NSW Government response to cyber incidents and events across all of NSW Government. The team combines both cyber security knowledge and processes with intelligence methodologies to monitor, assess and report on the cyber threat landscape and supports NSW Government responses to cyber security issues, risks and threats.

The Operational Intelligence team works closely with the Incident Response Team and Strategic Intelligence team to provide operational and tactical intelligence expertise and analysis to deliver actionable advice, intelligence and reporting on cyber security threats and incidents. The team possesses a dark web intelligence collection capability; and uses the VERIS classification framework for statistical and trend analysis of incidents.

**Key accountabilities will include**:

- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on cyber security threats and issues in order to monitor, detect, report and share information and intelligence on incidents, threats and trends to support informed decision making,
- Prioritise workload to meet agreed outcomes and timeframes,
- Proactively research, monitor, identify, assess and alert agencies and executives to cyber security issues and threats using open source intelligence, clear web and dark web resources,
- Analyse and assess cyber threats to government services, assets and information to determine attribution, motivation and capability,
- Using the VERIS and/or Mitre Att&ck frameworks to support threat intelligence and incident response, and
- Provide expert advice and insight to NSW Government departments, agencies and councils on threat actors; tactics, techniques and procedures; and indicators of compromise in cyber incidents and events.

**About you**
**To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, knowledge and experience**:

- An awareness of current trends in the ever evolving cyber security threat environment,
- Experience with tools and techniques used in intelligence, data analysis, digital forensics, and/or threat hunting; in particular in monitoring and navigating activities on the dark web,
- Demonstrated experience in real time intelligence analysis on emerging tactics, techniques and procedures used by threat actors,
- An ability to react quickly to assess incoming information and intelligence to ensure an accurate and prompt response to live cyber incidents and events,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to different audiences, from executives and senior stakeholders to security teams,
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to proactively manage your own workload and tasks,
- Willingness to be on-call and work flexibility in response to cyber threats and incidents, and
- Relevant qualifications, certifications or studies in cyber security and/or intelligence are highly regarded.

**Essential Requirements - All applicants should hold Australian citizenship and also Being able to attain and/or maintain a baseline security clearance or higher as a condition of employment**
