**About the position**

La Trobe University is establishing a world leading flagship Care Economy Research Institute (CERI) to achieve a step change in research impact and profile. CERI will unite high performing researchers engaged around a significant and complex challenge to drive impact and innovation and will be the engine through which La Trobe delivers world-leading research and generates external income at a greater scale than is possible through La Trobe’s existing research centres.

CERI will deliver a step change for La Trobe, by expanding LTU’s research and teaching capability in the health and wellbeing space across La Trobe and help to strengthen partnerships with multiple health care providers, government, education and research facilities across Australia.

The Manager, Care Economy Research Institute is a leadership position which works strategically and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders within the institute, responsible for leading the administrative and managerial operations of CERI including engagement with academic and industry partners. Academics and the research domains vary in their partnership activities and opportunities, but all partnership activity is driven by our university strategy to build mutually-beneficial partnerships that create opportunities for our students, staff and the community.

As the successful incumbent, reporting to the CERI Director, some of your duties will include:

- Perform complex, significant and high-level creative planning, program and managerial functions with clear accountability for institute performance.
- Be fully responsible for the achievement of objectives and programs affecting a significant organisational area at CERI level or equivalent. May be an influential contributor to decisions over the allocation or use of substantial resources.
- Be accountable for the achievement of significant CERI objectives and programs.
- Provide strategic direction to CERI requiring integration of a range of internal and external policies and demands and achieve objectives operating within complex organisation structures.
- Bring a multi-perspective understanding to the development, carriage, marketing and implementation of new policies; devise new ways of adapting the institute’s strategies to new, including externally generated, demands.

***As the successful applicant, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience and expertise in the management of significant human and material resources, or postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or experience and expertise in the provision of strategic policy advice affecting the direction of the University, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for achievement of objectives and programs affecting a significant organisational area at Business Unit/School/Division level or equivalent.
- Proven record of developing innovative solutions and practical implementations for strategic change.
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships.
- Proven record of managing and controlling substantial budget/resources/funding and an understanding of financial management procedures.
- A valid Victorian Drivers License as travel to regional campuses will be required.
