**About the role**

The Strategic Engagement Manager is a newly created role that will work closely with the Victorian Road Safety Partners, Local Government and internal stakeholders to contribute to the realisation of Victoria’s vision of zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads, by engaging the Victorian community in ways to reduce road trauma.

Success in this role will see you lead the development of a comprehensive community engagement and change strategy to increase acceptance and support for new road safety initiatives across Victoria.

As a strategic engagement expert, you will be responsible for planning for the widespread community engagement and change initiatives, leading the development of stakeholder and partner engagements with the sole focus on gaining support for the lower speed settings, especially among Local Government and community groups.

**About the Team**

The Strategic Engagement Manager is a stand-alone role within the Behaviour, Education & Community Branch, within the broader Road Safety Division. With no direct reports, you will report into the Director and will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

This role can be based either at the Geelong HQ or a smaller Melbourne Office, however weekly travel to the other offices and some locations around the state will be required. The vibrant and social Branch are geographically spread out so they enjoy making the effort to connect regularly.

**What we’re looking for**

**Strategic engagement expertise**
- Demonstrated high-level experience in leading, developing and delivering community and stakeholder engagement and community change strategies, programs, campaigns and materials
- Highly developed communication skills with the ability to produce content for different audiences and channels to meet user needs and achieve business outcomes
- Proven leadership in project management, including engaging with different stakeholders, scoping project outcomes, managing budget and resources, meeting timelines, risk management and performance evaluation

**Critical thinking**
- Inquiring and strategic mindset, utilising creativity and innovation to think more broadly to address and resolve communications issues
- Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary project teams to develop, deliver and evaluate complex engagement projects

**Strong stakeholder management**
- Demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining constructive relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues and managing sensitivities within constrained timeframes, and ability to effectively negotiate to achieve outcomes
