In this role you will report to Dr. Denis Fougerouse, Senior Research Fellow in the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Dr. Fougerouse is a world leader in the nanoscale characterisation of minerals and an expert in ore mineralisation systems. Working with him offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research and contribute to pioneering projects in the field. You will benefit from his extensive expertise, a collaborative research environment, and access to state-of-the-art facilities.

The project funds also cover the provision of two PhD students, whom you will have the opportunity to co-advise.

**Your new role**
The School of Earth and Planetary Sciences is seeking a Research Fellow expert in ore geology, or extractive metallurgy to conduct advanced mineral characterisation to determine processes responsible for by-product critical element mineralisation in major ore minerals, or their deportment during mineral processing.

The researcher will join a multi-disciplinary team that includes researchers from Earth and Planetary Sciences, the John de Laeter Centre, and the West Australian School of Mines.

**Essential Criteria**:

- A PhD in Earth sciences, mineral processing or a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of high-spatial resolution mineral characterisation techniques.
- Practical, academic, or industry experience in geochemistry or extractive metallurgy.
- Project and financial management experience.
- Track record of publication on relevant research.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students and/or less experienced team members.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
