- Provide a high level financial management and budget management consultancy service on aspects relating to the management of the Department’s budget. Maintain budget management systems and their associations with Departmental finance systems, reporting systems and with Treasury budget management systems. Support budget allocation and monitoring services in the Department including planning, evaluation and reporting processes. Participate in the development of appropriate policies, procedures and information systems. Provide operational supervision and direction for the budgeting and financial reporting team.We support reasonable adjustment requests in any stage of the assessment process to remove barriers and facilitate full participation in all aspects of employment for applicants. **Hours per fortnight**:
Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available.
**Duties**:
- Support the provision of high level efficient and effective services to the Department that integrate the following budget management areas:
- budget formulation, maintenance and monitoring;
- development of sustainable budget strategies, including budget review and re-allocation;
- budget performance reporting; and
- development of budget information systems.
- Participate at a high level in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, guidelines and standards relevant to the effective and efficient management of the Department's budget.
- Assist with the preparation of the Department's annual budget, capital works and services programs and with the preparation of information for Treasury, Budget Committee and Budget Estimates Committee.
- Co-ordinate salary budget formulation and monitoring with a focus towards maintaining salary classification profiles and associated salary allocation mechanisms.
- Manage and undertake complex analysis and investigation into budget formulation and monitoring and provide high level advice to senior management.
- Identify areas of opportunity and need in the management of budget formulation and monitoring and recommend and manage the implementation of solutions.
- Liaise with the other areas of the Department and government agencies on budget formulation and monitoring issues.
- Undertake major projects on specific and other issues.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
**Desirable Requirements**:
Appropriate Tertiary qualifications or substantial progress towards such a qualification and membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body.
