**About the role**

Contribute to the provision of high standard nuclear medicine services to patients referred to the Department of Nuclear Medicine, PET & Bone Densitometry, RAH by:

- Assisting the Director, Department of Nuclear Medicine in strategic planning and organising the delivery of Nuclear Medicine services in SA Medical Imaging
- Contributing to effective teaching and training programs and advances in knowledge and research. Assessing the appropriateness of nuclear medicine requests, supervising the patients during studies and reporting on nuclear medicine examinations in a timely manner
- Working closely with the department manager and staff to ensure a high standard of clinical service Take a patient focussed approach in the provision of clinical care, including therapy and participate in the Nuclear Medicine department after hours on call roster.
- Contribute to the management of the financial, material resources of the department, the adoption of responsible risk management practices and safeguard confidential information and intellectual property. Coordinating with other staff (including technologists, scientists and clerical staff) workflow within areas of the Department.
- Supervising and performing nuclear medicine procedures, including exercise and pharmacological stress testing for cardiology patients.
- Participating in consultation with other senior staff in the development of nuclear medicine procedures and protocol manuals.
- Ensuring in consultation with other senior staff that adequate standards of patient care are provided.
- Coordinating admission, radionuclide administration and isolation of therapy patients with senior staff in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
- Providing clinical leadership to facilitate and support a team approach to the provision of nuclear medicine services in SA Medical imaging.
- Assigning and supervising the clinical practice of the nuclear medicine registrar.
- Ensuring the appropriate documentation of clinical care in patient's medical records and ensuring the timely provision of nuclear medicine studies.
- Participating in multidisciplinary clinical meetings advising on and discussing nuclear medicine procedures and examinations.

**Qualifications**
- FRACP, FRANZCR or equivalent, registerable as a specialist in nuclear medicine with the AHPRA Medical Board of South Australia, with PET accreditation.
- Demonstrated participation in continuing medical education since attaining qualifications, including general Nuclear Medicine, Positron Emission Tomography and advanced life support.
- Must be eligible to be licensed to use or handle radioactive substance pursuant to Section 28 of the (SA) Radiation Protection and Control Act 1982.
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award
