**Overview**

The Women's and Children's Hospital provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia. We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. We also provides important community-based services.

Each year, more than 30,000 people are admitted and about 5000 babies are born at the hospital. In addition more than 250,000 people come to the hospital as outpatients.

The hospital has 295 beds. The hospital’s paediatric and adolescent wards cater for all paediatric specialties. Women’s wards provide antenatal, gynaecology, neonatal and postnatal care.

**The Opportunity**

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the WABS Neonatology team as a **Paediatric Surgery Consultant** on a **short** **term.65FTE contract until 1 February 2024.**

As the Paediatric Surgery Consultant, you will be key in providing an effective medical service within the objectives and philosophies of the Paediatric Surgery Department, Division of Surgical Services and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. With a focus on General, Urology, Neonatal Surgery. This includes fostering the development of community networks appropriate to the Paediatric Surgery Department and Hospital’s strategic direction and provision of high quality medical care to public and private inpatients.
- You will also be a strong support within the Paediatric Surgery Department of education, research and health promotion and encourage and model team work.**About You**

To be eligible for this role you are required to have Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (where appropriate); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

To be successful in this role, you will use your well developed interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally and your demonstrated commitment to providing a quality service to the patient. You will also have recently been involved in clinical research, including publication.

If you have Senior Clinical experience in in Paediatric General, Urology, Burns, Neonatal Surgery in a large public hospital, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and experience in, and commitment to, working within a multidisciplinary team with an interdisciplinary approach to services then this role is for you.
