The **Women’s & Children’s Health Network** provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia. We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service.

Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

**The Opportunity**

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the SA Paediatric Training Network as **RACP **Paediatric Basic Trainee (2YR +)** on a **long term contract until 31 January 2027.**

As per the SMOEA 2023, the total of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 6 or 12 month allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

As a trainee within the SA Paediatric Training Network, Paediatric Basic trainees will rotate through a range of different general and subspecialty paediatrics which includes exposure to acute paediatric medicine and community based medical environments, contributing to the provision of clinical services to WCHN inpatients and outpatients.

WCHN provides rotations for basic trainees in paediatric medicine at a number of sites in the metropolitan region including WCH, Lyell McEwin Hospital, Flinders Medical centre plus community paediatric placements.

The Trainee Medical Officer (TMO) is expected to actively participate in clinical teaching and associated research projects.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will use your clinical skills appropriate for duties in the work unit.

You will have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.

You must be post-graduate year 3 or higher and have 3 months of paediatrics or neonatal medicine experience.

Registrar level Trainees of other vocational programs will also be considered (ACEM, GP, etc). 12 months Paediatric experience is necessary to work at Registrar level.

If you are able to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environment, are able to communicate effectively with customers and other staff, are able to work under stressful conditions and/or high workloads and have sound problem solving and decision making skills (both clinical and individual), then this role is for you.
