**About the Role**:
As an Assistant Gardener, you will be responsible for a range of maintenance and gardening duties. Your tasks will include:

- Assisting the Parks and Garden Team(s) with various gardening tasks such as watering, pruning, weeding, and mulching.
- Operating council plant and equipment, including ride-on mowers, trucks, cutting tools, tractors, and elevated work platforms.
- Supporting planting initiatives and estimating/ordering plants, trees, and shrubs.
- Assisting the Tree Maintenance Teams with tree care and maintenance.
- Ensuring compliance with weed control standards, safety regulations, and chemical handling procedures.
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Completing assigned customer requests and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Conducting regular maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Contributing to reports, databases, and administrative tasks.
- Assisting with irrigation system repairs and playground/recreation equipment maintenance.
- Participating in the implementation and operation of traffic management plans.

**About You**:
To thrive in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:

- Hold a Heavy Rigid Victorian Driver's License.
- Experience in horticultural maintenance.
- Knowledge of operating various plant and equipment utilised in horticultural services.
- Familiarity with traffic management plan implementation.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team and resolve minor problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service abilities.
- Effective planning and prioritisation skills.
- Proficiency in the safe operation of plant and equipment, including herbicide handling.
- Physical and mental fitness to perform duties as outlined in the position description. (Pre-employment medical and police check required)
