**About the opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a leader who is passionate about sustainability and has a strong drive to improve the planet in line with our purpose. The General Manager, Sustainability - Planet reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer and works across the organisation and our Sustainability community to lead and facilitate the successful delivery of our Better Tomorrow 2025 Planet and Product pillars that relate to the planetary impact, and our Climate Change, Nature and Planet strategy. The role requires a commercial and relationship-oriented approach, outstanding influence across all levels, as well as strategic and commercial insight.

In this role, you are accountable for the Climate Change and Nature Strategy to ensure Woolworths delivers in line with our brand, purpose and stakeholder expectations. You will deliver on our 2025 Goals, set the ambition for our 2030 Goals and future proof Woolworths in maintaining its position as a leading ASX listed company and the first choice for customers.

This role will see you:

- Bringing to life our Sustainability plan 2025, setting out our ambition through bold goals, driving concerted action and investments, and stays the course in the face of setbacks or push-back from short-term oriented stakeholders
- Bringing a strategic lens to the end to end approach of the Better Tomorrow 2025 ‘Planet and Product’
- Setting the Group Sustainable Sourcing strategy and capability, influencing the change for all Woolworths products and services to have a positive impact on the planet
- Considering issues such as plastics, responsible protein, food waste, circular-economy, animal welfare and sustainable sourcing of commodities

**Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who will live our purpose of “creating better experiences together for a better tomorrow”, and bring your deep passion for our team, customers and improving society and the planet. You have proven experience in leading large teams and have established leadership capabilities.

A role model of collaboration and constructive behaviours, you are also able to make the tough decisions as required and proven experience of having the challenging conversations that drive business performance and direction. You can engage and influence the Executive Board and Directors on the Board Sustainability Committee, having developed an ease in senior forums. Being externally recognised as a leader in Sustainability, driving and influencing industry change.

You will also have:

- People leadership at scale, including inspiring and energising through purpose, empowering people to be their best, demonstrating care and building wellbeing
- A track record of leading complex and diverse large scale change due to industry disruption and/or strategic shifts
- The ability to create and articulate an inspiring vision for the organisation, not only for the areas s/he is directly responsible for, but the enterprise as a whole
- Managed competing stakeholder demands and have developed an ease in senior forums
- Naturally connect and build strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
- A purpose led approach to leadership with strong ways of working
- Outstanding influencing ability, driven by doing the right thing to have a positive impact on the bottom line, the planet, people, our customers and our team
- Relevant Degree & knowledge of sustainability, retail/FMCG and understanding of the commercial drivers. Firmly believing that both sustainability and profit are in the businesses best long-term interest
- The ability to unblock & facilitate connections and collaboration across the business to influence outcomes without direct authority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, using insights and data to make decisions, strong attention to detail, and good follow-through.
